As Area Medical Director, you will provide clinical leadership and strategic oversight across three referral hospital locations in Virginia. Working closely with senior operational and medical leaders, you will guide medical standards, support team development, and help shape the long-term clinical direction of the group.

This role is ideal for a specialist who enjoys leading people, mentoring clinicians, and influencing medical quality while remaining connected to clinical decision-making. You will oversee medical services, support referral relationships, advise on best-practice clinical operations, and ensure a consistently excellent client and patient experience across sites.

The position offers dedicated administrative time, a structured four-day work week, and no nights or weekends.

In addition to your veterinary qualifications, we are looking for someone who brings:

A DVM or equivalent degree from an accredited institution

Board certification in Medical Oncology, Radiology, or Internal Medicine (DACVIM-O, DACVR, or DACVIM-SAIM)

At least five years of experience in a high-volume clinical or referral environment

Eligibility for veterinary licensure in Virginia

Strong emotional intelligence and self-awareness

A collaborative, authentic leadership style

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

Confidence mentoring and developing veterinary and technical teams

A strategic mindset with a focus on continuous improvement

Willingness to travel between locations on a weekly to biweekly basis
