Our client is an independent, family-owned specialist referral practice established in 2016, operating two state-of-the-art small animal hospitals in Auckland. The central hospital is located in Freemans Bay, with a second site in Albany. Together, they provide a true 24/7 referral service supported by a highly collaborative team of specialists across surgery, diagnostic imaging, internal medicine, cardiology, neurology, oncology, dermatology, and critical care. The northern site also offers hydrotherapy services.
Both hospitals are exceptionally well equipped, featuring a full in-house laboratory suite (including Radiometer), multiparameter patient monitoring, digital radiography, ultrasound, endoscopy, mechanical ventilation, underwater treadmill facilities, and on-site CT and MRI. Purpose-built cat and dog receptions, consulting rooms, and wards ensure a calm and efficient clinical environment.
The hospital culture is built around teamwork, clinical excellence, and delivering a compassionate, well-rounded service to patients and their people.
Our client is seeking a Veterinary Cardiologist (board-certified or residency-trained) to step into an established full-time position at their central Auckland hospital. This opportunity has arisen as the current cardiologist relocates after five years in the role, creating a rare opening within a well-developed service.
You will inherit an existing caseload and join a supportive, multidisciplinary team of specialists committed to delivering the highest standard of referral-level care across a broad range of complex cases.

Strong clinical expertise in cardiology, including interventional procedures
Excellent communication skills with clients and referring veterinarians
A collaborative mindset and enthusiasm for mentoring interns, residents, and nursing staff
Eligibility for veterinary registration in New Zealand
