An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Clinical Director to join the hospital’s senior leadership team. Working closely with the Hospital Director and clinical leadership group, this role is integral to shaping the future of the hospital while maintaining the highest standards of patient care.
This position would suit an experienced veterinary referral specialist with a passion for leadership, mentoring and strategic development, who also wishes to maintain a level of clinical involvement.
Key areas of responsibility include:
Leadership
Provide clear clinical leadership across the veterinary team, fostering a collaborative, high-performing culture.
Inspire and engage clinicians to contribute to the development and growth of clinical services.
Lead and manage change initiatives while ensuring open communication and team engagement.
Support the recruitment, development and retention of exceptional veterinary professionals.
Clinical Quality & Governance
Lead the delivery of outstanding clinical care through robust governance, audit and quality improvement initiatives.
Implement efficient, client-focused systems and processes that support excellent patient outcomes.
Maintain compliance with regulatory and professional standards including RCVS requirements.
Continue to deliver clinical work as a Veterinary Specialist.
Commercial Performance
Work as part of the senior leadership team to achieve key performance objectives including clinical efficiency, service quality and sustainable growth.
Contribute to the development and delivery of the hospital’s annual budget and operational targets.
Promote strong client relationships through clear communication, transparency and excellent service.
Future Strategy & Growth
Help shape the hospital’s long-term clinical strategy and identify opportunities for service development.
Use data, market insight and performance metrics to support strategic decision-making.
Collaborate with internal teams to strengthen referral relationships, expand services and enhance brand reputation.
The ideal candidate will be a recognised veterinary specialist or referral clinician EBVS/ACVIM/ACVS/FANZCVS etc with a strong interest in leadership and team development.

You will ideally bring:
Specialist or advanced referral-level veterinary experience
A passion for mentoring, coaching and developing veterinary teams
Proven leadership capability or the ambition to develop within a senior leadership role
Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
A commitment to delivering the highest standards of patient care and clinical governance
