Emergency & Critical Care Veterinarian – Sweden (ECC)

We are looking for an experienced Emergency & Critical Care Veterinarian to join the emergency and ICU team.

You will manage a varied caseload of emergency and critical patients, from initial triage and stabilisation through advanced diagnostics, treatment and ongoing intensive care.

You will work closely with specialists across the hospital, with excellent access to advanced diagnostic imaging, surgery, internal medicine and other referral disciplines.

Typical responsibilities will include:

• Managing emergency presentations and critically ill patients
• Initial assessment, stabilisation and prioritisation of emergency cases
• Managing complex ICU and high-dependency patients
• Performing emergency procedures and interventions
• Developing and implementing diagnostic and treatment plans
• Working closely with specialists on complex multidisciplinary cases
• Managing analgesia, fluid therapy, transfusions and critical care protocols
• Supporting emergency surgery and anaesthesia where appropriate
• Monitoring and reassessing patients throughout their hospitalisation
• Communicating clearly with owners and referring veterinarians
• Supporting and mentoring junior clinicians and contributing to the wider ECC team

This would suit a vet who enjoys variety, clinical autonomy and genuinely challenging emergency and critical care cases, and who wants to work within a hospital where ECC is an integral part of a broader specialist service.

We are interested in speaking with vets who have:

• Veterinary degree and eligibility to practise in Sweden
• MRCVS’s
• Solid experience in emergency and critical care
• Confidence managing unstable and high-acuity patients
• Strong clinical decision-making and prioritisation skills
• Experience working within a multidisciplinary referral or emergency environment
• An interest in developing further within ECC
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills
• A calm, organised approach in high-pressure situations

ECC certificate holders, residency-trained/eligible clinicians and vets with significant emergency hospital experience are all encouraged to enquire.
