The hospital is a privately-owned, world-class specialist and 24-hour emergency hospital and Advanced Treatment Centre, which also offers a mobile specialist service to local veterinarians across greater Sydney. The team is over 200 passionate people strong, with specialists in internal medicine, surgery, diagnostic imaging, cardiology and dermatology, and further subspecialties on the near horizon. The busy emergency department is run by 17 well-trained emergency veterinarians.
A unique feature that sets the hospital apart is undoubtedly its culture. The team is fierce about looking after one another, and collectively that makes them exceptional. This is made possible because the owners and directors are specialist veterinarians working in amongst the team, leading by example. The model is simple – let specialists do specialist things and allow the support staff to shine. They won’t make it hard when you ask for additional nurses, interns or equipment – they know you need them!
For a radiologist, the imaging platform here is exceptional and almost entirely brand new: a Siemens Magnetom 1.5T MRI, a Siemens Go.Up 64-slice CT, Philips Zenition fluoroscopy, a Philips Epiq Elite ultrasound with two portable CX-50 units, and mobile X-ray. The hospital also runs a strong and innovative interventional radiology department, with frequent human IR doctors assisting, performing intra-arterial chemotherapy, prostatic embolisation, liver trans-arterial chemoembolisation, vascular stenting and all endourology techniques. With a busy multidisciplinary caseload and an outpatient imaging referral service for local veterinarians, there is real scope to shape and grow the imaging department.
The hospital has a dedicated intensive care section with a newly completed ICU, housing a high dependency crib, integrated Menios ICU beds and Servo-U ventilators with high-flow oxygen.
The current array of equipment (most purchased brand new) includes:
The hospital is located just south of the Sydney CBD, moments from world-renowned sandy beaches and breath-taking national parks. It couldn’t be in a more perfect location.
