
This is a newly developed, privately owned, independent multi-disciplinary referral and emergency hospital designed to deliver gold-standard patient care while prioritising clinician wellbeing. This position is ideal for a Small Animal Surgeon looking to work within a highly advanced referral environment while contributing to the growth and development of surgical services.
You will:
Play a key role in developing and expanding the small animal surgery service
Manage a diverse and complex surgical caseload, including orthopaedic and soft tissue cases
Work closely with a multidisciplinary team across internal medicine, oncology, neurology, critical care, and more
Utilise advanced surgical equipment including arthroscopy, laparoscopy, TPLO systems, and fracture fixation technologies
Contribute to case discussions, clinical rounds, and collaborative decision-making
Support and mentor interns, technicians, and potentially residents
Have input into surgical equipment, service development, and future expansion plans
This role offers both clinical autonomy and the opportunity to influence the direction of a growing surgical department.
In addition to your veterinary qualifications, we are looking for someone who brings:
Board certification (ACVS / ECVS) or residency-trained status
Eligibility for licensure with the College of Veterinarians of Ontario (CVO)
Strong surgical experience across orthopaedics and/or soft tissue
A collaborative, team-focused approach to referral medicine
Excellent communication skills with both colleagues and clients
A passion for surgery and advancing patient care
Interest in mentoring and developing junior team members
The ability to thrive in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary environment
