We are seeking an experienced Emergency & Critical Care (ECC) Nurse to join the emergency and ICU team on a permanent basis.
In this role, you will be a cornerstone of patient care, working closely with emergency veterinarians and specialists to manage critical cases from admission through stabilisation, diagnostics, treatment, and ongoing ICU care.
Typical responsibilities will include:
Triage and initial assessment of emergency patients
Continuous monitoring of critically ill and hospitalised patients
Management of ICU cases, including ventilated and high-dependency patients
Placement and management of IV catheters, arterial lines, feeding tubes, and urinary catheters
Administration of medications, CRIs, blood products, and fluid therapy
Assisting with emergency procedures and surgeries
Anaesthesia monitoring and support (experience here is highly valued)
Operation and maintenance of advanced monitoring and life-support equipment
Clear, compassionate communication with veterinarians and the wider nursing team
Supporting junior staff and contributing to a calm, organised emergency workflow
This role suits someone who thrives in high-pressure environments and enjoys balancing multiple patients and priorities simultaneously.
Qualified and licensed Animal Nurse / Veterinary Nurse / Animal Caregiver (Level 3 or equivalent)
Proven experience in emergency and intensive care nursing
Comfortable working both day and night shifts in a 24/7 hospital
Highly organised with strong situational awareness in fast-moving environments
Confident multitasker who can track patients, treatments, and clinician needs simultaneously
Experience with anaesthesia and advanced monitoring is highly desirable
Team-oriented, adaptable, and calm under pressure
