Operating 24/7, the Emergency & Critical Care (ECC) department is fully equipped and staffed by experienced veterinarians and nurses to manage all types of pet emergencies. The hospital also offers a dedicated rehabilitation and hydrotherapy service, enhancing treatment outcomes and improving quality of life for patients and their families.
This position is for an experienced and motivated Nurse Manager to lead and elevate the veterinary nursing team across all departments, with a strong focus on the Emergency & Critical Care service. Reporting directly to the Chief Operating Officer (COO), you will work closely with Specialists and Veterinarians to uphold high standards of patient care and ensure smooth clinical operations.
Key responsibilities include leading the nursing team across clinical departments, standardising workflows, improving efficiency, and overseeing training to maintain staff readiness. You will ensure 24/7 ECC nurse coverage, optimise triage processes, and monitor performance using KPIs and patient outcome metrics. The role includes significant involvement in workforce planning, recruitment, onboarding, and staff development, as well as managing scheduling and providing support in HR-related matters.
This position follows a four-day work week on a rotational basis, with three ECC shifts (7 AM–7 PM), including weekends and public holidays, and one operational day (9 AM–6 PM) focused on training, planning, and workflow development with the COO.
You hold a Degree or Diploma in Veterinary or General Nursing, with advanced certifications such as Cert III, Cert IV, dipAVN, or VTS considered highly advantageous. You bring at least five years of leadership experience in veterinary nursing or hospital administration, with a strong background in patient care, staff management, and clinical operations. You possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills and a passion for coaching, developing teams, and delivering high-quality patient care.
